The Somerville Pioneers won the last time they faced the Dayton Bulldogs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Somerville strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 64-50.
Dayton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Malcolm Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jackson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Marcus Manfredi was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Somerville's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Dayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Somerville will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Jersey (Bridgewater-Raritan is ranked 185th, while the Pioneers are ranked 168th). As for Dayton, they will head out on the road to face off against the Farmers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
