The Hoisington Cardinals waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-60 win over St. John. Given Hoisington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while St. John is ranked 69th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoisington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylee Hahn led the charge by scoring 19 points along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Crawford, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Hoisington's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for St. John, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Hoisington is on the road again on Saturday and play against Bucklin at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Bucklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. St. John won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Larned.
