West Yosemite recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hanford West, who defeated 338th ranked Hanford, 29-22.
The Huskies moved up to 507 from 624 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Yosemite. Hanford West climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Bullpups 29-22.
Garian Martin made the biggest impact on defense this week as El Diamante bested Mt. Whitney. The 5-foot-10 senior.
Jake Young was a passing and rushing force as Hanford lost to Justin Fowler's team. He completed 22 passes for 308 yards and also ran for 19 yards. Young's key target this week was Demetrius Curry, who caught 7 passes for 120 yards.
Richard Doctor was a force in the backfield as Lemoore lost to Redwood.
Adam Vance threw for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 14-24 with 0 interception.
Doctor was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 260 yards as the Tigers lost to the Huskies.
6-foot-1 quarterback Young of the Bullpups is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,207. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rickie Garcia. The Redwood star has 19 catches for 350 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Golden West takes on the Rangers. At the moment, the Trailblazers are in fifth, while Redwood is in first.
The Pioneers lost to the Miners 49-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. JaVaughn Malcolm was a bright spot for Mt. Whitney, as he ran for 133 yards in the defeat.
