Washington extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-16. They came up short against the Atchison Phoenix, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Phoenix this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 two weeks ago.

Nathan Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Washington: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Liam Peck was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
As for Atchison, they moved to 13-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Atchison's side, Parker Huntington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Huntington a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brody Barnes was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted over his last four matchups. Another player making a difference was Kolten Bonnel, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will welcome Highland Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Scots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.16 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Atchison, they will take on Schlagle at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.42 runs per game on average), something the Phoenix will no doubt try to take advantage of.
