The Oakland Patriots lost against the Blackman Blaze back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Oakland fell to Blackman 49-44. Oakland has not had much luck with Blackman recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Oakland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alonna Poole. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Kyla Joy was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Oakland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackman only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blackman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaelyn Flowers, who scored 21 points along with four steals. Flowers continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyriq Mastin, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Oakland now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Blackman, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rockvale at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Rockvale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Blackman, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Riverdale at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Blackman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
