The Fultondale Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Huffman Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fultondale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Thursday. Fultondale was the clear victor by a 25-0 margin over Tarrant. Fultondale has beaten Tarrant the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Tarrant has come to flipping the script.
Brody Mathis made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Austin Rogers was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Palmer, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Fultondale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .853. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Huffman lost 11-5 to Shades Valley on Saturday.
Dylan Craig made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Mekhidric Jackson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Huffman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Fultondale, their record now sits at 11-12.
Huffman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fultondale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Huffman, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Fultondale's hitters?
Everything went Fultondale's way against Huffman in their previous matchup back in February, as Fultondale made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
