The Smith Valley Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Mineral County Serpents, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Smith Valley walked away with a 39-32 victory over Mineral County.
Smith Valley found their leader in underclassman Shannon Gray, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gray has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ruby DeChambeau, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Mineral County had strong showings from Chesney Wilson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Jayona Kimmins, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds and two steals. Jazmin Serrato was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Smith Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Mineral County, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Smith Valley the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pyramid Lake at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Pyramid Lake will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Mineral County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Virginia City at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Virginia City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
