Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask James Island). They put the hurt on the Stall Warriors with a sharp 26-5 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Caroline Jaruzel made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI and one run. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Billingsley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amelia Renault, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
James Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
James Island has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Stall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-13.
As of now, neither James Island nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
