The Cedar Valley Aviators are taking a road trip to take on the Orem Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Orem will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Cedar Valley extended their winning streak to five on Saturday. The Aviators put the hurt on Olympus with a sharp 18-3 win. The Aviators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 12 runs or more this season.
Eva Okusi was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. Chloe Jones also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cedar Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Orem made easy work of American Fork on Thursday and carried off a 22-12 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cavemen: they've now won four in a row.
Camber Hancock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Cheyanne Wells was incredible, going a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Sadie Groneman, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Orem now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cedar Valley, their record now sits at 6-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Cedar Valley's way against Orem in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Cedar Valley made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aviators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
