Fairbanks is 9-1 against Triad since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Fairbanks Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Triad Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Fairbanks is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Fairbanks suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Mechanicsburg 55-26. While losing is never fun, Fairbanks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 568th, while Mechanicsburg is ranked 80th).
Riley DaRe put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Poling, who scored three points.
Triad posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They breezed by Northeastern at home to the tune of 49-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Triad has posted against Northeastern since February 10, 2021.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Triad to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Ferguson, who scored 20 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ferguson has scored at least a third of Triad's points. Mia LeMay was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Fairbanks has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Triad, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Fairbanks against Triad when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 47-17 win. With Fairbanks ahead 27-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.
