Fowler is 0-3 against Peyton since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fowler Grizzlies will look to defend their home court against the Peyton Panthers at 8:30 p.m. Fowler will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Fowler scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rocky Ford 60-28 on the road. That 32 points margin sets a new team best for Fowler this season.
Gage Gottbehuet continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Harrison Proctor was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Peyton came up short against Salida last Thursday and fell 60-49.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Michael Perry and Ryan Osness. Osness had a great game and scored 16 points along with three steals. Meanwhile, Perry did his best for the losing side, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Peyton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fowler's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Peyton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Fowler have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Peyton, though, as they've been averaging only 29 rebounds per game. Given Fowler's sizeable advantage in that area, Peyton will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fowler came up short against Peyton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 69-62. Thankfully for Fowler, Logan Nickell (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
