The Serrano Diamondbacks will head out to face off against the Victor Valley Jackrabbits at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Serrano has seven straight wins, Victor Valley has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Serrano made easy work of Granite Hills and carried off a 19-8 victory. The Diamondbacks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.
Sam Conan made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Serrano got a massive performance out of Cody Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Carlie Moore was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Serrano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .610. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Victor Valley came up short against Apple Valley on Monday, falling 18-2.
Victor Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrea Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Garcia's first of the season.
Serrano pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Victor Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Serrano took their victory against Victor Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for Serrano since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
