D'Evelyn is 9-1 against Standley Lake since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The D'Evelyn Jaguars will face off against the Standley Lake Gators at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
D'Evelyn was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wheat Ridge on Tuesday. D'Evelyn breezed past Wheat Ridge to the tune of 68-15. The Jaguars pushed the score to 66-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Farmers had no chance of recovering from.

D'Evelyn found their leader in sophomore Lyla Nagy, who went 9-for-10 to rack up 20 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nagy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colleen Monahan, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 15 points along with five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Standley Lake waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 54-33 victory. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Lions are ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Standley Lake's win came from a few key players D'Evelyn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sydney Martin, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. What's more, she also posted a 69% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Aaliyah Valenzuela was another key player, going 6-for-15 en route to 15 points and five steals.
Standley Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Standley Lake's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. As for D'Evelyn, their record is now 18-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: D'Evelyn has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Standley Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
D'Evelyn strolled past Standley Lake in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 58-43. Does D'Evelyn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Standley Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
