The North Penn-Liberty Mountie's game on Thursday was all tied up 37-37 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cowanesque Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Penn-Liberty's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Louis Mercantino, who scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Kreger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Speaking of assists, North Penn-Liberty were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
North Penn-Liberty dropped their record down to 7-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Cowanesque Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Canton the next time they take the court. North Penn-Liberty will head out to face Canton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cowanesque Valley will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
