Baseball Recap: Chandler Wins Going Away Against Marana

Chandler never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Marana Tigers. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

Dylan Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Zhaid Diaz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

Back at the plate, Chandler let Jace Harrell and Thomas Bass run wild. Harrell scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Bass scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Harrell is becoming a predictor of Chandler's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Romero, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Chandler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Chandler back to even at 8-8-1. As for Marana, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chandler will host Casteel at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marana, they will be playing at home against Rincon/University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marana is facing Rincon/University at the right time seeing as Rincon/University is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
