Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alex Dix and Avery Houseton Lead Covenant Day to Victory

After losing to Cary Academy the last time they met, Covenant Day decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Covenant Day Lions put the hurt on the Cary Academy Chargers with a sharp 41-18 win on Friday. That looming 41-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lions yet this season.

Leading Covenant Day to victory were Avery Houseton and Alex Dix. Houseton went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points along with six assists and six boards, while Dix went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds. Houseton has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lila Jones, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Covenant Day has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Cary Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-1.

Covenant Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-25 victory against North Raleigh Christian Academy on the 7th. As for Cary Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-20 loss against Asheville School (Independent) on the 7th.
