The Clearview Clippers will be playing at home against the Brookside Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clearview will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, Clearview earned a 26-19 win over Black River.
Clearview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Lorenzana, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Cy Christensen, who threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Brookside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Columbia on the road and fell 35-7. While losing is never fun, Brookside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 589th, while Columbia is ranked 279th).
Clearview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Brookside has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Clearview has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brookside struggles in that department as they've been even better at 158 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Clearview strolled past Brookside in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 by a score of 32-14. Will Clearview repeat their success, or does Brookside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
