The Lakeland Christian Vikings will face off against the Four Corners Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Lakeland Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-33 to the Wildcats. Lakeland Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Collette Zavada, who scored eight points along with five assists. Kiya Boyce was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Four Corners was the victim of a rough 59-34 defeat at the hands of the Eagles on Thursday. Four Corners has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Four Corners might have lost, but man, Karina Cruz was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Cruz hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Villanueva, who scored four points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Lakeland Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Four Corners, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lakeland Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Four Corners struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lakeland Christian came up short against the Coyotes in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 47-35. Can Lakeland Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
