Melrose faced Mountainair in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountainair steamrollered Melrose 56-16. Mountainair were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
The victory bumped Mountainair's record up to 4-1. The defeat dropped Melrose's record to 1-3.
Next week Mountainair take on Magdalena at 7:00 PM. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins. As for Melrose, they will face off against Logan.
