Basketball Recap: Evergreen Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Evergreen won the last time they faced D'Evelyn and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Evergreen Cougars enjoyed a cozy 68-50 win over the D'Evelyn Jaguars. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Jaguars are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Beeson, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points and seven steals. Beeson has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rob Beldock, who went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Evergreen was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as D'Evelyn only racked up eight assists.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Denzel Bogyah, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Blake Colehour, who put up ten points and five assists.

Evergreen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for D'Evelyn, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Evergreen will challenge Golden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evergreen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season. As for D'Evelyn, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the D'Evelyn Jaguars duke it out with the Littleton Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. D'Evelyn is facing Littleton at the right time seeing as Littleton is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
