Two dominant backs in Tijarian Barnes and Kevin Bailey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Collins Tigers will head out to square off against the Amite County Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, Collins ended up a good deal behind East Marion and lost 30-14.
Barnes took on on another dominant RB in the form of Jaquez Hathorn. Hathorn had a great game and rushed for 168 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Barnes was balling out in the loss, rushing for 169 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 30 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Amite County won against Enterprise last Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 46-21 margin over Loyd Star. The Trojans pushed the score to 38-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets had little chance of recovering from.
Amite County's win came from a few key players Collins will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kemauri Thompson, who rushed for 122 yards on only 12 carries. Those 122 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Kyran Magee did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 113 receiving yards.
The win made it two in a row for Amite County and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Collins, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.
