The Highland Springs Springers will head out to square off against Maggie Walker at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Highland Springs and Varina, and Highland Springs kept the tradition alive. The Springers blew past the Blue Devils 18-3 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Springers, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ashlynne Porter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Porter was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Makaila Gallagher was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Dejhonae Sangster was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Maggie Walker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Deep Run, falling 20-0.
Highland Springs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Maggie Walker, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Maggie Walker struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
