The Natomas Nighthawks posted their biggest win since December 29, 2023 on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Florin 75-33 on the road. Given Natomas' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Florin is ranked 1137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Natomas was led to victory by Harold Beckwith and Darius Hemmingway. Beckwith scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, while Hemmingway scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aeron Wallace, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Natomas has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Florin, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natomas' road trip will continue as they head out to face West Campus at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. West Campus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Natomas likes a good challenge. As for Florin, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
