Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Leake County proved: they limited Bogue Chitto to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Titus Fortune for the heroic effort on defense: he. Leake County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.2.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Taylorsville against South Delta on Friday as the squad secured a 46-8 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Tartars just coasted through the last quarter.
Leake County better keep an eye on Karryon Phillips. He was instrumental in Taylorsville's win, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of TDs.
One reason for the win was Taylorsville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. South Delta's QB won't forget Ladainian King anytime soon given he sacked him three times.
Leake County's record now sits at 7-5. As for Taylorsville, their record is now 8-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Leake County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 259.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Taylorsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 166.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Leake County was dealt a bruising 54-0 loss at the hands of Taylorsville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
