This season hasn't been kind to the Salem Generals, who are still winless after their 12th contest. They were outmatched by Warrensburg on the road and fell 88-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Salem has scored all season.
Patrick Stone and Blaise Barrett certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Stone scored three points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Barrett scored two points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Salem struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warrensburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Cheney, who shot 6-for-12 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cheney has scored all season. Steve Schloss was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Salem's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Warrensburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will face off against Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Argyle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Salem in New York (Argyle is ranked 298th, while Salem is ranked 795th). Warrensburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Corinth at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Corinth is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
