Widefield has gone 9-1 against Palmer recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Gladiators will challenge the Terrors at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Widefield has five straight victories, Palmer has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Widefield came out on top against Coronado on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Gladiators put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Gladiators have posted against the Cougars since May 5, 2023.

Liam Gordon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Widefield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Prantl, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Luis Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Widefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Palmer came up short against Canon City on Thursday and fell 6-3.
Raymond Roldan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Dyson Sharpton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Palmer's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Widefield, their record is now 11-7.
Palmer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Widefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Palmer, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Widefield's hitters?
Everything went Widefield's way against Palmer in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Widefield made off with a 20-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
