Holtville is 1-8 against Brawley since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Holtville Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Holtville can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Southwest EC by a score of 43-30. The victory was just what Holtville needed coming off of a 54-27 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Brawley didn't have too much trouble with Southwest EC at home on Tuesday as they won 46-29.
Domanic Vallejo was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Ethan Flores was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Holtville now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Brawley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Holtville was taken down by Brawley 54-27 when the teams last played last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vallejo, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and six assists.
