It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Washington County Golden Hawks can now relate to. They took a 25-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cook on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Washington County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Cook is ranked 107th).
Cameron Beasley threw for 158 yards on 13 of 25 attempts. Ka'Monta Durden was his top target, picking up 95 receiving yards. On the ground, Jeremiah Steele rushed for 48 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chavious Hobbs, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Folsom, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
Washington County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Cook, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cook will look to defend their home field on Friday against Appling County at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Appling County's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
