Last Tuesday, Blue Valley West strolled past St. James Academy with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. Given Blue Valley West's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while St. James Academy is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Blue Valley Northwest gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Bishop Miege, posting a 66-38 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Blue Valley Northwest.
Joey Matteoni was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Fritz, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Blue Valley West is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Blue Valley Northwest, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Things could have been worse for Blue Valley West, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Blue Valley Northwest when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Blue Valley West, Grant Stubblefield (who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
