Softball Recap: Holmes Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Holmes, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Marshall Rams with a sharp 11-1 win on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-1 back in March.

Hannah Melendez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Alexis Olvera was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Holmes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Holmes moved to 10-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Marshall, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Holmes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marshall, they will be playing at home against Stevens at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.88 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
