Eagle Valley is 0-10 against Summit since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Devils will take on the Tigers at 9:00 a.m. One thing working in Eagle Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
On Thursday, Eagle Valley made easy work of Hinkley and carried off a 16-1 win. The matchup marked the Devils' most dominant victory of the season.
Jackson Woodworth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Woodworth was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Eagle Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colter Blakey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Eagle Valley is undefeated when Blakey posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Ehlert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Eagle Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Summit unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Glenwood Springs by a score of 4-3.
Like Eagle Valley, Summit also got a great game from a two-way player: Sam Eldredge. He struck out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Eldredge has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Eldredge wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jojo Gambino, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Eagle Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Summit struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Valley suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Summit when the teams last played back in March. Can the Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
