Emerald's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Southside Tigers with a sharp 21-6 win. Considering the Vikings have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Destinee Powers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Powers was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Lonna Ann Holloway and Laniya Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Holloway went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Moore went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Holloway a new career-high. Emma Cline was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
