The Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan will challenge the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aurora Central Catholic took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chicago Mt. Carmel, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Chicago Mt. Carmel turned things around against Marist on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the RedHawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Caravan have posted since May 31, 2024.
Kolin Adams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Adams was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Chicago Mt. Carmel got a great performance from Jake Matise as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Tj McQuillan, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Logan Fernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Chicago Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Aurora Central Catholic lost 12-1 to St. Laurence on Tuesday. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
The victory got Chicago Mt. Carmel back to even at 4-4. As for Aurora Central Catholic, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-4.
Chicago Mt. Carmel took their win against Aurora Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Caravan repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
