The Pleasant Grove Vikings entered their tilt with the Alta Hawks with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Pleasant Grove snuck past Alta with a 57-52 victory on Thursday. This was payback for Pleasant Grove, who suffered a 49-45 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Amber Cook, who scored 22 points along with four steals. The match was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tabi Clark, who scored 13 points along with four blocks.
Alta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Fuifuilupe Niumeitolu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Niumeitolu scored a full 28.8% of Alta's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aolele Liavaa was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Pleasant Grove's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Alta, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Pleasant Grove won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cyprus at 5:15 p.m. on December 15th. Cyprus is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game. Alta will be home for the holidays to greet Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
