At the plate, Ava Nawrocki and Siena Gundersen did most of the damage at the plate: Nawrocki scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Gundersen scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Nawrocki has posted since back in February. Ena Ramsey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Flintridge Sacred Heart hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Providence had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Fairfax as Providence made off with a 21-2 win.
Madelynn Watts made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Watts was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Providence let Evangelina Aleman and Delailah Lopez run wild. Aleman went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Lopez went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gloria Galindo, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Flintridge Sacred Heart's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Providence, their record is now 1-0.
Flintridge Sacred Heart couldn't quite finish off Providence when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Flintridge Sacred Heart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
