Northern Guilford won the last time they faced Page and things went their way on Friday too. The Nighthawks put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Nighthawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Kevin Willoughby made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Ellis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hinnant, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The win (which was Northern Guilford's third in a row) raised their record to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Page, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Northern Guilford has already played their next match, an 11-0 win against Western Guilford on the 9th. As for Page, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 defeat against Grimsley on the 8th.
