Softball Recap: Amarillo Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Amarillo entered their tilt with Bowie on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bowie Jackrabbits 16-2. The Sandies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Amree Anglin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bentli Rodriquez was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last nine games. Another player making a difference was Braylee Shuffield, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Amarillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Amarillo's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for Bowie, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amarillo will venture away from home to take on Plainview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bowie, they will face off against Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
