Softball Recap: Dallas Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lebanon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dallas). They never let the Lebanon Warriors get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Madi Ruman was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harlow Nelson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Woods was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Dallas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lebanon only posted an OBP of .143.

Dallas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lebanon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dallas will head out to face off against McNary at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Celtics' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lebanon, they will venture away from home to take on South Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
