The Herriman Mustangs won the last time they faced the Farmington Phoenix, and things went their way on Saturday too. Herriman came out on top against Farmington by a score of 58-49.
Herriman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malcolm Johnson, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. Johnson also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Stockton Blanchard was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Defeat or not, Farmington got some senior leadership from Ethan Harris who scored 11 points and Paul Beattie who scored nine points along with five assists. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Braden Larsen, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Farmington were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herriman only racked up seven assists.
Herriman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Herriman is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hillcrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Herriman is ranked 13th). As for Farmington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bingham at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Bingham's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
