The Kennedy Eagles lost against the Maria Carrillo Pumas back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kennedy took a 49-33 bruising from Maria Carrillo. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1154th, while Maria Carrillo is ranked 392nd).
When it comes to explaining why Kennedy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Martin. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Scarbrough, who scored seven points.
Maria Carrillo was led to victory by Eli Jamieson and James Hillestad. Jamieson scored 19 points, while Hillestad scored nine points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jamieson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Dipman, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Kennedy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Maria Carrillo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Kennedy will stay at home for another game and welcome AIMS College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. AIMS College Prep will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Maria Carrillo will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against San Marin at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. One thing working in San Marin's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
