The Arizona College Prep Knights came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 57-52 win over Combs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arizona College Prep also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Arizona College Prep was led to victory by Alex Neill and Justice Moore. Neill scored eight points along with 14 rebounds, while Moore dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Mason Kintner was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Combs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Johnathon Byaus, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Byaus hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamren Dubose, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Arizona College Prep's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Combs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arizona College Prep will face off against Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Poston Butte's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Combs, they will head out on the road to challenge Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastmark is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.1 points per game.
