Maddox Magnussen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Norfolk is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-12 otherwise. Magnussen was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, James Lanman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Landon Viergutz was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.
Norfolk's record is now 7-13. As for Thurston-Cuming County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Norfolk's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thurston-Cuming County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Norfolk, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Thurston-Cuming County's hitters?
Thurston-Cuming County came out on top in a nail-biter against Norfolk in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 6-4.
