Wildwood played in-conference for the first time on Wednesday and got just the result they were looking for. They had just enough and edged out Clayton 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Broc Denke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Denke was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, RJ Blanda was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Liam Carmel was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pennsville Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Pitman 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Pennsville Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason O'Brien, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Chase Burchfield, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Wildwood's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Pennsville Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
