The Adna Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Coupeville Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Adna put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-13 win over Forks. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Naillon Ramirez was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 188 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries. Grayson Humphrey was in the mix as well, providing Adna with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Adna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forks only rushed for 22.
Meanwhile, Coupeville hadn't done well against South Whidbey recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolves blew past the Falcons, posting a 35-6 victory. Considering the Wolves' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Adna better keep an eye on Davin Houston. He was instrumental in Coupeville's win, rushing for 64 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 35 receiving yards.
Coupeville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aiden O'Neill.
Adna pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.6 points on average over those games. As for Coupeville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Adna against Coupeville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-13 victory. In that game, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 42-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
