Even though the Lewisburg Patriots have not done well against the Hernando Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lewisburg came out on top against Hernando by a score of 55-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lewisburg also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Lewisburg was led to victory by Allie Carroll and Allison Irby. Carroll dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Irby dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Irby has scored at least 25% of Lewisburg's points.
Fran Kelly and Jaliyah Kelly certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kelly scored 20 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds, while Kelly scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Kelly's ninth in a row with at least ten points.
Lewisburg's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Hernando, they have yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 7-2 record.
Lewisburg will take on Callaway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Callaway sitting on five straight victories and Lewisburg on four. As for Hernando, they will head out on the road to face off against Center Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Center Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
