The Fallston Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 41-31 victory over Aberdeen. Given Fallston's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Aberdeen is ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fallston was led to victory by Bolesta Brooke and Ayla Galloway. Brooke scored six points along with 12 rebounds, while Galloway dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Galloway's third in a row with at least ten points. Natalie Wirth was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds.
Fallston's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Aberdeen, they bumped their record down to 2-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Fallston will take on South River in a holiday battle at TBD on Saturday at. Aberdeen will be home for the holidays to greet Harford Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Harford Tech and Aberdeen are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
