Lake Zurich is 2-8 against Stevenson since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bears will challenge the Patriots at 4:45 p.m. The last three games Lake Zurich has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Lake Zurich took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Warren Township, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears skirted past the Blue Devils 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since March 18th.

Alaina Krzeminski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kelly Selzer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Koelper, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Stevenson had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it 18 on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Zee-Bees a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Aubrey Jepson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Shimanski, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Stevenson pushed their record up to 25-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Zurich, their record is now 14-16-1.
Lake Zurich suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Stevenson when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
