The Parkwood Wolf Pack will head out to square off against the Crest Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Parkwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Henderson, sneaking past 12-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolf Pack considering their one-run performance the game before.
Brinley Parker was a standout: she fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayce Marvel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Parkwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Crest had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 13-1 victory. Considering the Chargers have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aidan Ledbetter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Crest got a massive performance out of Sage McCurry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that McCurry has launched this season. Josi Downey was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Crest pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Parkwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Parkwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Crest struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
