Columbus waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Coral Gables Cavaliers as they made off with a 14-1 victory. With that win, the Explorers brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.
Mathew Rios looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Mario Magana was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Correa, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
