Dolores had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Ignacio Bobcats by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-3 defeat on Saturday.
Gus Vaughn was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Declan Warren was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Hampton, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Ignacio, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Ignacio's side, the team relied heavily on Ambrose Valdez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Valdez a new career-high. Sonny Flores also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dolores will challenge Dove Creek at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Ignacio, they will face off against Nucla at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
